Philip Hoffman is the founder and Editor of Biotech Informer, a biotechnology industry and stock analysis blog concentrating on development stage biotechnology companies that are developing drugs for specific disease indications. He is also the owner of an independent biotech equity research and consulting firm that conducts research on small-cap drug development companies.

Phil’s career in biotechnology began evolving more than two decades ago while studying molecular biology and participating in both academic and industry-based research. His academic achievements include earning a B.S. degree in Biology from Cal State University, a Master of Science degree in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Georgetown University School of Medicine, and an MBA degree in Finance from Cal Poly Pomona. He has also developed a relative valuation model while working on his thesis which aids him during the analysis of biotech companies.

Biotech Informer is a weblog dedicated to providing information and analysis on events occurring in the biotechnology industry. Biotech Informer does not provide information on daily key events, breaking news, lists of winners and losers, or other information that could be better provided for readers via biotech aggregators such as Biospace.com.

Instead, Biotech Informer provides independent, original content and research analysis based on the editor’s experience and background in the biomedical sciences and with biotechnology companies. The Editor believes this provides the most value to readers rather than simply posting and repeating information already released from other news feeds. Biotech Informer conducts research analysis on small-cap biotechs, which is a distinct and unique niche, as it provides an environment with low competition for investment ideas.
